OBITUARY
MISS-.EVA BARKER The death occurred this morning of Miss Eva Barker, fourth daughter of (he late Mr. and Mis. Pereival Barker, Whatanpoko. The deceased was born in Dunedin ami came to Poverty Bay at an early age with her parents. She had resided here ever since. The late Miss Barker was of a bright and cheerful nature, and had! a happy faculty of making friends wherever she went. In her homo circle she was held in affectionate regard by her brothers and sisters, and her passing will be greatly felt, by all of them. By virtue of her personality the late Miss Barker held a leading position outside her own immediate relatives, and a wide circle of friends iu this district and elsewhere will be grieved lo learn of her death. Miss I'ar.kcr was secretary of the Victoria, League in Gisborne for some years, and took a keen and enthusiastic interest iu this work-. Shi' was an active member of tho Poverty Bay Ladies' Coif Clll'b, and had also held' the office of secretary to the club.
For four years during the Great War Miss Barker was actively engaged on war services at the Woolwich Arsenal canteen.
There remain lo mourn their loss three brothers. Messrs. Walter. Richard and Harry Barker, and two sisters. Misses Louise and Mav Barker, to whom the svmnathy of the community will be extended in their great loss. The funeral will leave "Acton" at 2 p.m. to-morrow for the Makaraka cemetery.
