FESTIVAL OF SPORT
GISBORNE COMPETITION INTEREST AROUSED The proposal to find the best alirottncl amateur, sportsman or sportswoman in Gisborne has created great interest. The most popular sport coinpetition also has been well received by sports bodies. Already tliQ following organisations have signified their support and will nominate a candidate:—Poverty Bay Rugby Union, Poverty Bay and Gi> borne Park Golf (Tubs. Cricket Association, Basketball Association, Hockey Association. Amateur Athletic Association, Poverty Bay Football Association and Turanganui Croquet Club. In the competition for the best till round sportsman judging will be made on proficiency in the following sports: Golf, football, bowls, rowing, cricket. basketball, swimming, boxing, wresfling, gymnastics, tennis, Association football, croquet. dancing, gallery ■shooting, ping-pong, diving, badminton, athletics., and hockev. The sports applicable to ladies will be used in judging the best all-round sportswoman.
