-' MATAKAOA MEETING: , _ -The Matakaoa Women's Institute lield its monthly meeting on Saturday, May 23, Mrs., Halliwell presiding. Although tho weather was not very good' there was. a large attendance. »fhe exchanging of recipes for a one egg cako and an eggless pudding proved very interesting, 'the competition for the best foot-rest. was won 'by Mrs. Branson, with .Mrs. Taylor second. The best powder puff case was won "by Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. Martin coming second. The trades table in charge of Mrs. Branson was a success, many useful articles being for sale. - The president, Mrs. Halliwell, was appointed to represent the Matakaoa institute at the annual conference tc rtp held in Dunedin. *A very nice afternoon tea was enjoyed, the hostesses being Mesdames (Vlurtagh, Tyrell, Ryan and Fan-brother-During the afternoon the members joined' itC community singing, Mrs. Clark being the accompanist. The meeting was "brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
