DRINKING AT DANCES
SERIOUS GROWING EVIL YOUTH oD NEW ZEALAND STATE ACTION URGED (Pei Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Describing drinking at public dances as "a serious and growing evil’’ which was ‘‘demoralising our young, people,” the Auckland Farmers’ Union, conference to-day passed a remit moved by Mr. Rockwell, of the Bay. of Islands, and seconded by Mr. Ziman, Cambridge, as follows : "That as drinking at- public dances is fast- becoming a serious social evil, llto Government be urged to adopt measures that will prevent intoxicating liquor being - used at such dances.’ Mr. Ziman said that such drinking was a growing evil and no one was fully armed with authority lo deal with it. Several speakers endorsed the proposal.
