TARANAKI PERSONALITY DEATH OF MR. R. COCK (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. The death of Mr. Richard Cock has occurred. lie was So years ol age. He was well known as a local body member and a former businessman. Mr. Cork was born in Taranaki and was the founder of the, bacon industry in the province. He was twice Mayor of New Plymouth, and was formerly the chairman of the liarhour and hospital'boards. At one time he was the proprietor of the Crown Dairy Company, then the largest in 'lie Dominion. He was the founder and director of a sash and door timber company, the founder of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, the president of the trustees of the New Plymouth Savings Bank since 1921, find the chairman of a. building society for 20 years, fie was a well-known Freemason. Mr. Cock, ns a member of the Taranaki Rifles, took part in the Parihaka campaign in the Maori wars. Throughout his life he took a keen interest in all activities affecting the progress of the town. He is survived by a son, Mr. L. Cock, of Auckland, and a daughter, Mrs. C. Williams, of New tM vinout It.
