ROYAL PARTY’S VISIT
GIANT BRITISH LINER QUEEN’S STANDARD SEEN (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. RUGBY, May 25After the Royal party’s tour of inspection of tho liner Queen Mary, lasting for three and a half hours, the King returned from Southampton to Fort Belvedere by air. Before landing at Southampton (his morning the King’s aeroplane circled over the docks so that tho King could obtain a view of the great liner from above.
One of the first things the Royal party saw in tho foyer of the liner was Queen Mary’s own personal standard 1 with the inscription : “Tlie gift from Her Majesty to the ship which bears her name.”
Luncheon and tea were taken on board. Tho other members of the party remained for an hour after the departure of tlie King, and subsequently returned to London by special train. Four hundred workmen who were putting the finishing touches to the liner s decorations before she sails on Wednesday were given a holiday to-day.
Hundreds of tons of express cargo which the Queen Mary will carry across tlie Atlantic include many personal gifts from British senders to friends m (ho United States. The gifts are inscribed with particulars of the histone maiden voyage of the big liner.
