THE WEATHER To-day’s North Island Report Blue skies were reported this morning at Auckland and in the Bay of Plenty, hut overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate southerly breezes were general. The barometer had commenced n rising movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland, Gisborne and Napier 51 degrees, Tauranga 43. Opntiki 49, East Cape 55, and Wellington 50. Rough seas were reported at Gisborne and EasL ('ape; elsewhere moderate, or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast An anticyclone extends fiom SouthEastern Australia on to the South Island, but pressure lias, remained low to the north and east of the Dominion. Winds: Easterly, strong to gale in the far mirth; elsewhere southerly to south-easterly prevailing, moderate to strong about and north of Cook Strait: light I' l moderate over the South Island. Seas (New Zealand waters); Rough north ol ( asllepnin! and a heavy hut decreasing southerly swell, (lienee southwards; moderate to rather rough on the west coast ol the North Island ; elsewhere slight to model' ate. Eastern Tasman Sea : East to southeast winds, strong to gate force, in the northern portion, with rough to high seas; moderate in the southern portion, with a moderate southerly swell. Weather: For the most part, lair to fine, with cold temperatures: changeable and unsettled, however in the northern and eastern districts of the North Island, with scattered rain and some heavy lulls in the extreme northern and north-east-ern parts. Midday Forecast General inference.- There is little change in the meteorological situation. An anticyclone still covers the south Tasman Sea. and extends over New Zealand, while the pressure is still rather low to the north and east. Forecast.—Light to moderate southeasterly winds. Weather fair to cloudy, but some isolated showers north ot Wairoa, and cold. Seas, a considerable but decreasing southerly swell.
