A BUSY WEEK
PORT OF GISBORNE IMPORTS TOTAL 2G4G TONS Xo less than 3106 lons of coastal and intercolonial cargo was bandied on the wharves at Gisborne last week, which was one of the busiest, periods the port has experienced, as far as that, class of cargo is concerned, for a considerable time. In addition, a. further 608 tons of meat and general cargo was lifted by the motor-ship Port. Hobart. The coastal and intercolonial cargo brought to Gisborne amounted to 2645 lons If) ewt., while 460 tons 10 ewt. of cargo was exported to other coastal ports. With the visit c-arly in the week of the 294? tons collier, Kalingo, from
Newcastle, coal contributed largely to ilii 1 total of imnoils. Miscellaneous cargo and motor-spirit were the next biggest items. The following is a list, of the coastal and intercolonial cargo handled on the wharves for tin l six days from Monday to Saturday:
Imports. —Goal, 1193 tons 18 ewt.: miscellaneous cargo, 444 tons; motorspirit. 403 tons ; fuel oil, 143 Lons 6 ewt. ; hardwood limber. 86 tons 10 ewt. ; flour, 83 tons 10 ewt. : potatoes, 77 tons 13
owl.: kerosene. 64 tons 10 cut. ; motor vehicles. (11) 48 tons: cement, 48 tons; fertilisers, 39 tons; Government cargo, 19 tons 12 ewt. : softwood timber, 4 tons 10 owl. ; total imports. 2645 tons 19 ewt.
Exports. —Miscellaneous cargo, 208 tons 10 ewt.. : wool, 99 tons 16 ewt. : bides, 55 tons 14 ewt.; (allow, 53 tons; blood and bone manure, 20 tons; sheep. (360) 18 Ions; sheepskins. 3 tons 10 ewt.: motor vehicles, (1) 2 tons; total exports, 460 lons 10 ewt.
