The Government '\s gigantic land purchasing programme has made Uncle Sam the biggest landlord in the world, with the sole exception of Soviet Russia, where all property is ownpd by the State. The Government has bought more than 23,000,000 acres for £23,325,000 in two years. The biggest purchasing agency b i o forestry service, which has bought about 10,500,000 acres since the be ginning of the Roosevelt Administra lion. A close second is the resettlement administration, wliicn has ac accepted options on 8,000,000 acres.
