The British inquiries which Sir Eric Phipps, the British Ambassador at Berlin, has communicated to the German Foreign Minister, Baron von Neurath, have been carefully considered and are informed by the spirit indicated in the Speech made in the House of Commons by the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, last night, when he said that the objective, of the Government in these exchanges remained what it always had been, namely "to make of a period of crisis a period of opportunity."
