ROMAN TERMS REJECTED ITALY CHANGES TONE ATTITUDE MODIFIED MEDIATION OF LEAGUE (Elmc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. April 17. 2.45 p.m.) LONDON. April 16. A report from Geueva states that, as expected. Abyssinia categorically rejected the Italian conditions lor peace negotiations as notified to the League Committee of Thirteen. The council was asked U. establish Italy's non-acceptance mi negotiations within'the framework of the League and also to apply against the aggressor .sanctions provided under Article X'Vl of the Covenant.
Subsequently Italy modified her attitude to (lie extent of agreeing, while maintaining! main points, to negotiate with the League's assistance, but would not agree to an armistice during the eurreticy of the negotiations.
The Committee of Thirteen, possibly after questioning Rome to secure elucidation of Italy's proposals, will decide on Friday whether conciliation has failed, in which event the Committee of Eighteen will he convened in order to discuss further sanctions,
