HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN
NET PROCEEDS £11,794 RECEIPTS AND EXPENSES A sum of £11,794 lias been credited to various health organisations as a result of the health stamp campaign undertaken by the Post Office in the various hospital districts in the period from September 30, 1935, to January 31, 1936. In a statement issued by the Director-General of the .Post and Telegraph Department, Mr. G. McNamara, it is shown that donations received oil behalf of health organisations totalled £6822, the half value of the health stamps sold and credited to the organisa. tions was £4993 and the amount available for these organisations from the sale of health covers with stamps affixed was £431. The expenses of the campaign, including cost of dies, printing of stamps, designing, advertising, envelopes and stationery, was £B9l, and of this amount £349 was met by the Post Office, leaving £452 to be debited to the health organisations, which thus received a balance of £11,794. The principal amounts received from various districts were:— Wellington, £1996; Auckland, £1118; North Canterbury £1072; Otago, £910; Waikato, £857; and Southland, £656.
