j SITE AT POHE ISLAND OFFICER TO MAKE REPORT ' The Whangarei Borough Council lias j been advised by the Minister of Public Works. Ihe lion. 11. Semple. that the department's land purchase officer has been instructed to confer with the conncil in regard lo a landing ground at -Polio Island. This is the result of the t council's request that thai officer should i report in regard to the valuation of Grown tenants' interests on Polie Island. I where it is proposed to develop a temporary aerodrome. Continuing, the Minister slated thai the aerodrome engineer had informed |,i m thai I'ohe Island site, if developed lo the best advantage, would serve air transport until such lime as the Otuika site could be developed as a permanent -round. The Minister pointed diil that liie'airporl authority, whether.! the Borough Council or a specially constituted authority under an airporl board, could not be constituted a local aviation authority until such time as Ihe body concerned was actually controlling a piece of land for aerodrome . purposes . | H wan decided lo take no forth >r ~,.|,ioii until the deparlmcni.'s ollict r had I eonferreil with the council.
