MINISTER’S INTENTION PROPAGANDA & RESEARCH BILL IN COMING SESSION A Wool Industry' Protection and Research Bill will be- among the legislation to be. introduced by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. \Y. Lee Martin, in the early part of the corning session of Parliament. Provision will be made m the bill for a small levy on all wool sold in. or exported from, New Zealand. With the. fund thus coated steps will be taken to combat _ propaganda against the use of wool. 'Wool research in New Zealand will also he prosecuted with the fund. The introduction of the bill, stated Ihe Minister, had been made at the mpiesl of sheepfariners. who had submitted their proposals. Some time ago a wool low bill hail met with opposition, bill the present proposals were approved by those in the industry. Further agricultural bills to be introduce! I by the Minister are the Dairy’ industry Amendment Bill and a Shuighlciring and Inspection Amendment Bill. The former seeks to clear up the. legal position in regard to a number nf existing regulations, and the latter to give a clear definition of disease ift eases where compensation is pa ill. Amendments will also he introduced in two crises,! one to the Massey Agricultural (tollego Act, dealing with the position brought about by the luet that (he Board of Agriculture, with its right to nominate a member, has not functioned share 1932 L The right of agricultural societies to determine who shall lie regarded as showmen, will he ileall with in an amendment to the Agricultural -and Pastoral Association Act. Tile legislation, slated the Minister, was all nnn-eontentious. His major task fluring the session would concern guaranteed price legislation. In this matter lie was collaborating with the Minister of Finance, lion. W. Nash.
