WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TO LAG A BAY MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the fifth annual meeting of the Tolaga Bay Women’s Institute, held yesterday afternoon in the Parish Hall. The retiring committee was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and, on behalf of the members, Mrs. C. W. King presented the retiring president, Mrs. 11. L. Tempest, with a beautiful bouquet, made by Airs. A J. Reid. The report and balance sheet, showing a satisfactory state of affairs. . were adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : President, Airs. C. I.T. O’Connell; vice-president, .Mrs. U. \V. King; secretary, Airs. A. Norris; treasurer, Mrs. 11. Laing; committee, AleSdames E. Undham, T. McCrcedy, C. Reid. Al. Edwards, F. Lawrence. J. Pickett, jun., and Sister Lipsett.

An estimating competition, won by Mrs. A. Norris, resulted in a small sum being collected to aid the hospital radio fund. The amount thus raised was further augmented from the sale of a few small leather articles made by Airs. G W. King. Altogether the fund heneiited to the extent of 15s 3d.

A handsome silver cup was presented bv Airs, E. G. Kelly as a special points prize. The cup may he won outright by the member winning it three years in succession or on five separate occasions. For the first year, 1936-37, points will be awarded for a thrift competition. It was decided that tile new committee should hold its first meeting in the Parish Hall on March* 31.
