The Ballingev Rifle Champion Bell, gold modal, "and gold shield of the National Rifle Association and King s Prize of £3O, were won by W. N. Masefield (Blenheim) at the Trentham meeting this afternoon. He increased his overnight lead of two points in the King's Fifty, to win the championship by a margin of six points, with a score of 469 out of a possible SCO. With scores of 463. two men tied in I lie final for .second place, and as the result of the subsequent shoot-off, D. K. Wilton (Whangarei). was runner-up for the championship, and P. 11, Catley (Levin), third. J. li. Farley (Wanga'nui), was fourth with 462, and 11. R. Hunt (Suburbs) and F: J. deuue (Gisborne) each with 461 finished in fifth and sixth places respectively. Masefield has now won the belt three times, being King's Prizeman in 1914 and 1929.

Difficult shooting conditions were experienced for the final. The highest individual score in the final match for the King's Prize was 46. made by A. Hunt, for which he receives the Ilifte Challenge Cup. Thirty-four teams competed in the champion teams match, which was fired during the morning. Wangaimi No. ( 1 team were the winners, with a score ot 384 out of a possible 420. Petone No. 1 team and Auckland City No. 1 team, each with 380, were second and third respectively. The marksmen to obtain a place m the Service Fifty during the morning, fired their final 10 rounds application at 600vds. for the service championship, which was won by A. R. Symons (Okawa) with 206 out of a possible 250. He managed to improve his one-point lead in the Fifty to finish in the championship three points'ahead of the second man Farley. The Simmonds Cup, which is awarded for the highest individual score in the final match for the service championship, was won by Masefield.
