The Cabinet to-day had before it a lengthy report from" the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, dealing with the Government's guaranteed price scheme. The Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Ravage, stated subsequently that the Cabinet had fully diseased the report, but no finality had been reached. He gave an assurance that guaranteed prices would become operative before the opening of the export season on August 'l. He did not foresee any great difficulty in giving effect to the Labour Party's policy, although the Government had to iie careful not to disturb the existing order unnecessarily. Certain features of the guaranteed price scheme had been referred to a small committee of the Cabinet.
"People interested in this trade arc naturally anxious, but they need not be concerned," said Mr Savage.
