DEFENCE PREJUDICED LONDON, Jan. L'7. Justices Talbot, Miicnaghlen ant! Du t'arcq, in the Court of Criminal Apponl yesterday, quashed ' Die con viction of Frederick Roberts, who had been sentenced at London County Sessions to three years' penal servitude on n charge of fraudulent conversion of money entrusted to him by a woman to pay her rent.

The court held that Roberta was cross-examined as to his suggested past record in such a way that his defence might have been prejudiced.
