STORM DAMAGE

WAIAPU ROADS NEARLY ALL NOW OPEN (Hernld Corrcspondmit.) According to an employee of Ihe Waiapu County Council, the roads an now open to vehicular traffic except the Te Puia-Waipiro road. An extensive slip has necessitated the closing of the road for a few more days.

A large slip occurred between Rnatoria and Tikitiki, hut has been cleared sufficiently to let motor vehicles pass. The approaches to the bridges on the main road to Te Puia in the Mangahanine Valley have not yet been repaired, but will be filled in as soon as possible. Two groynes will be required and about 8 to 10ft. of the approaches are to lie rebuilt. A considerable amount of silt is still on the road at Ananra, but it is not causing so much trouble to traffic now.
