JUVENILE RECHABITES

EIGHT NEW MEMBERS

The Gisborne Juvenile Reehabites met for their fortnightly meeting last evening, Bro. Bryan Hawkins, C.R., presiding over a. targe number of members. Eight candidates for membership were initiated. The secretary, Bro. It. H. Clark, referred to the recent picnic held at the ! Park Domain, and congratulated all present upon making it such 'an outstanding success. The'recently organised orchestra was reported to be making good progress, the members showing much . keenness in their work. The superintendent gave a talk on the Rechabite emblem and explained the meanings of the various symbols. The new emblem presented by the district executive was used for the firs! time, and greatly simplified the talk. In connection with the forthcoming sale of work, working bees are to be set up to make articles which should meet with a ready sale. The first of these meetings will be held on Saturday evening. The meeting later went into harmony, riddles and jokes forming the major part of the programme. Recitations were given by Sisters Betty Neaine, Mavis Burton and Jenny Cade, a song by Sister Joyce Braxton, and a pianoforte solo by Sister Audrey Sandlant. The next harmony evening' is to take the form of a pingpong night.
