The sudden deiiili of Molina Lys, one of the Ij«>st known of I'Yenrh cinema actresses, after a mysterious collapse at a sup]x.M' party, caused consternation when it became known in I’aris theatrical circles to-day. A number oi small packets stated to contain cocaine was found in her hag. On Sunday evening .Miss Lys. who returned recenllv from Berlin, where she had been working on a film adapted from the play "Donogoo,” went to the llai of a lriend. .Miss Ellis. They were joined bv two other voting women friends, and till appear to have had a men v evening. " to-night I want to live. [ want io enjoy myself. Miss Lys said din ing the evening, one of I hem stated to-day.
At 2 o'clock she went very pale and seemed unable to breathe. She then suddenly collapsed. Her friends sent for a doctor, lull in tin hour she was dead.
The police tire investigating the case, and it, is understood that a post-inorteni is being held. .Miss Lys is admitted by her friends to have been a cocaine addict. and it iias been stated that some time ago she became' very ill owing to an overdose. A close friend lias told the police that of lale she had suspected that something was making her unhappy, although she was so gay on the night of her death. Those who knew her best do not believe she committed suicide, but think that she may have sought to forget some trouble by excessive use of drugs. Miss Lys, she was a platinum blonde, was 25. and at the height of her popularity among cinema goers.
