Eleavy rain put. an end to shooting half-way through the afternoon at the National Rifle Association's meeting at Trentham to-day. Soon after the marksmen went down at the firing points in the early afternoon for the last short range match of the Championship Belt series, rain commenced to fall, and the last men to shoot in this match had to fire in a steady downpour. The original intention was to lire the Service Championship in the late afternoon, Inn as a result of the curtailment, of the day's programme tins event lias now 'been postponed until Wednesday morning.

All the' short range matches hi Hie Championship Belt series were finished to-day.

The Wellington match. 10 rounds, at 500yds and 600yds., was fired during the' morning, and the llawke's Bay match, 10 rounds at 600yds.. in the enrl\ afternoon. Although conditions for shooting were far from good, the genera, standard of marksmanship in the Wei lington match was high. First place in the Wellington match went to the 1931 King's Priztman, VV J. McTvor (Petone), with 97. lie win£s. The B grade was won by F. Ifickinbotliam (Christcluircli) with 96. who takes £3.

Although the rough weather in whirl ihe llawke's Bay match was fired was responsible for many marksmen who hai done well in the previous matches ma I; ing poor scores, there were others win were able to master the conditions. 1 J. .feline (Gisborne) finished with 4' to win the first prize of £5. W. N Maselield (Blenheim) and 11. H. Kinc (Karori) tied for second place, each will 47. Two points were also dropped bv .1. E. Farley (Wsuignmri), but on tin count-back he had to be content with fourth place. With the completion of four short range belt matches, the Trentbam Aggregate was compiled. This was won h\ Farlev with 238 points out of 250. Minefield ami F. Iliscock (Chrisichurch). eacl with scores of 257, occupied second am third places. These are also the leadim men for the King's Prize.
