BOMBING FROM THE AIR

QUESTIONS IN COMMONS INVISIBLE CURTATN TALK DOUBTS OF MR BALDWIN (Elee. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. March 5,2 p.m.) LONDON, March 4. In the House of Commons to-day several members asked whether the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, had modified his previous opinion to the effect that there was no effective defence against, bombing from the air. Mr. Baldwin said the answer would require, a speech. Mr. E. Thurtlo (Labour) : Isn’t it still true that the best defence is offence?

Mr. Baldwin : It is a difficult- ques tion.

Mr. F. C. Watkins (Labour) asked whether there was any truth in reports that a so-called invisible curtain had been designed which would render an air attack on Britain impossible. Mr. Baldwin replied that he could not answer, and advised that statements of any secret process should be accepted with reserve.
