PREMIER OF JAPAN AN OFFER DECLINED TRIAL OF MUTINEERS (Elec. Tot. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. March 5. 11 a.m.) TOKIO, March 4. Prince Konoye, president of the House of Peers and a member of the Right parties, was appointed Prime Minister, but he pleaded the Emperor’s permission to decline on the grounds of ill-health. He lias been summoned for a further consultation with the Emperor. The War Minister, General Kawashima, will preside over a special tribunal to try the mutineers.
Five young officers are still at large. A communique states that more than 1400 officers and men participated in the incidents.
