ANNUAL MELTING There was an attendance ,of upwards of 50 members at the eighth annual meeting of the Patutahi Women’s institute, which was presided over yester, day afternoon in the Patutahi Hall by Mrs. - N. Walker. One visitor was wel corned, Mrs. C. K. Wilson, president of the women’s division of the Farmers' Union, who announced that there would be a meeting of the division in Gisborne next Monday, when all interested would be welcomed. Nominations were received for election to, the executive committee of the Poverty Bay Federation of Women’s Institutes to- be held in the Parish Hall, Gisborne, ori May 1. Correspondence was received from the _ j - secretary of the Y.M.C.A. seeking 1 financial assistance. It was decided to ' have a special trade table at the next monthly meeting, the proceeds from which will go towards the Y.M.C.A. funds. A motion to make a donation to the St. John Ambulance Association also met with approval. Owing to the nominations for the executive not exceeding the number required, no election was necessary, the following nominations being confirmed: President, Mrs. N. Walker; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. L. Baty and Mrs. 11. . Ritchie; secretary. Mrs. G. V. Smith; treasurer, Mrs. W. Bryson; reporter, Mrs. R. Atkins; committee, Mesdames W. J. Atkins. W. W. Stubbings, D. Campbell and L. Sefton; Misses Pita Atkins and 0. Young. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted, the latter showing a healthy credit balance. The president read a most interesting address outlining the work of the past year, which had .been ns successful as its predecessors. Mrs.- Walker was accorded: a hearty vote of thanks. Miss O. Young was elected commission table secretary, and Miss R. Atkins Home and Country, and competitions secretary. Circle conveners were appointed as follow: Gardening, Mrs. O. Thodey; dramatic and entertainment:, Mrs. James Atkins. Mrs. .7. R. Read, Mnnutuke, gave a most instructive demonstration ot decorative work, for which she received a vote of thanks. The following is the result of the last five months’ competitions: Mrs. G.Scragg, l; Miss Rita Atkins. 2; Mrs. C\ Peach, prize for systematic entries. The month’s competition results were: —Sugar-bag apron : Miss Rita- Atkins, 1; Mrs. George Scragg. 2: Mrs. C. Peach, 3. Jar of apricot jam: Mrs. George Scragg, 1; Mrs. C. Cusack, 2; Sirs. A. .Saggars, 3. > The hostesses at afternoon tea were Mesdames Hogan. Waddell, Campbell, Ladd, sefi., Ritchie, and Miss Simpson.
