ALBERTA'S TAXES
(To tho Editor of the Herald.)
Sir.— May 1 suggest to you, as a lover of British fair play, that, the subheading of "Social Credit Budget" may he misleading (o a. number of your readers, who may have already forgotten that when Mr. Aberhart became Premier of Alberta, he found that the Treasury had been left absolutely bare by his picdecessnrs and that therefore he has had to set to work to clear up the bigi debt loft for him to deal with. Hankers have stated that they will not put any .difficulties in Mr. Aberhart s way to introduce social credit but they are not going to help him. Mr. Aherliart has. therefore, to increase taxation to reduce the legacy of debt, left for him to deal with, and for bis province’s honour is hound to do so, but social credit with all its advantages will follow on. finally, it is as well for all of us to recognise that neither governments nor individuals can borrow themselves out of debt.- lotus, C. TTLLEATJD NATUSCK. }
