TANKER STRIKES REEF
DAMAGE TO KEEL FORCED TO TAKE SHELTER (Reed. Mar. 4, 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, Mar. 4 The Norwegian tanker Vardaas, of 8176 tons, damaged her keel on a reef off Point Danger, 70 miles south of Brisbane. The vessel, which has a cargo of crude oil, was en route from Singapore to Sydney and is sheltering from'boisterous weather inside Cape Morton. It is feared it may be necessary to tranship the cargo in order to repair the damage.. :.'. "..'
