To Mr. Robinson, the Gisborne district owes the inception of the airways company operating on regular schedules to-day between this town and Napier, he having sponsored the scheme at the outset, and the eventual flotation; of the company having been due in a large measure to the interest which he had succeeded in arousing in the project. Mr. Robinson's immediate concern is to secure adequate experience of passenger-service operation from the point of view of the working pilot, and his appointment with Union Airways should fui-nish him with ample opportunities for this type of experience. He is the possessor of a B license, and is a keen student of aviation in all its branches.
