MORERE SPRINGS

OPENING OF NEW POOL FIXED FOR SATURDAY GOVERNMENT'S INTEREST The Minister in charge, of Tourist Resorts, the Hon. F. Langstone, has communicated with the district member of Parliament, Mr. D. W. Coleman, intimating that the official opening of the new swimming pool at Morere will take place on Saturday next at 3 p.m., instead of on Sunday, as was suggested earlier. The hour fixed for the function should enable Gisborhe people to attend, and a general invitation has been extended by the Government to the public of the neighbouring districts. The district member will carry out the ceremony of opening the pool, the Minister not having been able to accept an invitation to visit the district for the occasion owing to pressure of other official business. On his behalf,. Mr. Coleman has issued invitations to all local bodies in the district to send representatives to Morere for the ceremony, which will mark a new era in the development by the Government of the East Coast's natural, resources.

Already the new pool, the construction of which was commenced just prior to the elections of last year, has proved a great attraction to visitors to Morere since the hot mineral water was led into the bath. Within a few chains of the main highway, it is much more convenient for the use of casual visitors to the spa than is the older public pool, the use of which entails a lengthy walk through the bush reserve. This walk is, of course, one of the chief pleasui'es of Morere for those who have time, to spare for it, but the tempo of modern travel does not lend itself to the full appreciation of the natural beauties of the spa by those who are merely passing through.

It is certain that,.the bath will pay a handsome dividend yearly to the department responsible for its * construction, as even in winter its temperature will he sufficiently high to attract custom from holiday-makers.
