WOOL RIVALS
AUSTRALIA AND S. AFRICA EXPERT'S PREDICTION MELBOURNE, Feb. 27. After .°.O years in the Department of Agriculture of South Africa, Mr. W. A. O'Shoa rcitimed to Melbourne by the Ceramic to-day. For the last IS years he has been chief stock inspector of the Cape Province. Ho declared that within a few years South Africa would seriously compete with Australia iu the production of fine wool.
"Leading breeders in the Union have been importing purebred sheep from Australia as n basis for their production of fine wool," he said. "This production is increasing each year, and soon the Union will be producing line wool in quantities that will enable her to be it. serious competitor with Australia. Sheep and wool experts are usually men who have been trained in Australia. The Karoo country produces fine sheep, comparable to the best in Australia."
