BROADCASTING SERVICE
IMPROVEMENT OF SYSTEM POI/K'Y NOT SHAPED "We have not had an opportunity yet to give final shape to the Government's policy regarding the national broadcasting service."' said tin; Prime Minister, the Hon. M. .). Savage, "but a day or two will be given to the question in the near future.
"It would be foolish at the moment to say what is likely to lie done." Mr. Savage continued. ''The whole system, of course, will have to be broadened so that the radio service may be extended to more homes. Then the position ol the B stations also will have to be considered. They have done good work and are entitled to encouragement.
"Put as T have said, it is premature yet to discuss the Government's policy in detail. While the importance oi broadcasting has been by no means overlooked or 'discounted, 'the Cabinet has been concentrating on what it believes to lie matters that are more important. It will be dealing with the broadcasting service and its control as soon a> possi ble.''
