M.U. ODDFELLOWS
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING TREASURER’S POSITION Manchester Unity Oddfellows Loyal Gisborne Lodge held its fortnightly meeting last night, Bro. J. A. Vagg, N.G., presiding over a large attendance. Two candidates were initiated', Bros. C. F. Stubbs and A. J. Kearns, past grands, being the conductors. Sister F. 1,. Barker presided at the organ.
Some discussion took place on the business paper received from Auckland for the district conference. The deputies, Bro. C, H. Ambridge, P.D.G.M., and Bro. A. G. Hicks, P.G., were given a free hand.
The sick visitors’ report from Bro. 11. J. Clayton, P.G., showed that several patients had returned from hospital since the presentation of the previous report, while others were making good progress.
A letter was received also from Bro. Clayton tendering his resignation as treasurer of the lodge. The group officer, Bro. F. T. Robinson, together with the noble grand and the secretary, were deputed to wait, on Bro. Clayton ami ask him to reconsider bis decision.
The social committee was deputed to complete arrangements to hold a meeting at I’atutahi on March 30. After closing the lodge, a. five-hundred tournament was held, refreshments being served during an interval. The winning table comprised Sisters Wallen and Castles, Bros. T. J. Dunstan and C. H. Smythe, who were one flag ahead of Bros. Michie, Vagg, McKay and Ambridge.
