SMOKING IN AIR LINER
REPORT TO MINISTRY
LONDON, Jan. 10.
A report has been presented to the Air Ministry concerning an incident, which is alleged lo have occurred in an Imperial Airways liner on Saturday night. The report was made by Captain Rogers, who had charge of the machine.
It concerns the conduct of a passenger who is said to have lighted a cigarette as the machine was landing. A steward, if is stated, called his attention to the fact that smoking is prohibited on Imperial Airways machines. Captain Rogers was called, and after some discussion Hie passenger extinguished the cigarette. 'Die matter has been submitted for the consideration of legal authorities, who will decide if any action shall be taken.
Air pilots n( Croydon unanimously hold the view that the commander of an aircraft is entitled to take whatever steps he may deem necessary to ensure the safety of liis craft and of those on board.
