HOPE OF COAL TRADE

LONDON", Dec. 12,

Lord Kennel, who, as Sir Edward Hilton Young, was Minister of Health, pointed out last night the importance of the gas industry to the British coalfields.

He was speaking at the dinner of the British Gas Federation at, Grosvonor House, London. Ho said: — "It is through the technique of gas that the use of coal, our greatest national asset, can he most promoted. The efficiency of coal can. be raised Sf! per cent through the use of gas."

Speaking of the by-products of gas, he said: "Before the war we had to import all our dyestuffs. Now we [jet them from, our own coal"
