I AMERICAN PRODUCTION MARKED IMPROVEMENT The marked improvement in the American motor-cm- industry during recent months was commented on by Mr. Iv. G; Pbxson, president of the I 100 Sales Corporation, who arrived: at Auckland last, week ill the course of a world tour concerned with the distribution of his company's cars. Mi'. Poxson intends to spend about a month in New Zealand before visiting Australia. There was every indication. Mr. Poxson said, that the peak production figures df 1929 would lie exceeded this year. To 1929 automobile production 'in the United States- was valued at approximately 3.600,000.000 dollars. Then the industry was severely hit by the depression, and bv 1932 production values had: fallen to less than I.CCO.COO. 000 dollars. There was a rise to 3.0C0. 000,000 dollars last year, and it was hoped that during the present year the 4X00,000,6CQ-dollar mark would be passed. The revival in the motor industry. Mr. l'oxson continued, was indicative of the passing of the depression, lint a notable feature has been that- during the years of bad business engineers and designers in the industry generally had not been allowed to cease, in their efforts to improve the general efficiency of the industry and its product.
