AEROPLANE DAMAGED
FORCED LANDING MADE PILOT SLIGHTLY HURT In making a forced landing in the vicinity'of the mouth of the Kaitoke Stream, near the Wanganui airport, on Saturday afternoon, an aeroplane owned by Mr. F. C. Norton, of Wanganui, and I.V Mr. C. Parker, of New Plymouth, turned on its nose,, the propeller being smashed and the machine damaged extensively. Mr. Norton, who was piloting the machine, suffered minor facial illumes. A passenger in the machine was unhurt.
The machine had taken off from the Wanganui airport and was flying) down the coast when the engine failed. The pilot endeavoured to make a forced landing on some clear ground, but the aeroplane struck a large stone and turned on its nose.
This was the second occasion within a week that Mr. Norton had been compelled lo make a forced landing. Last Thursday, while flying from New Plymouth to Wanganui, the aeroplane ran out of fuel and landed without mishap in a paddock al, Waitotara.
