FAREWELL GATHERINGS
REV. J. H. AND MRS. BOYD THE PINAL SERVICES The Rev. J. H. Boyd conducted his final Gisborne services at the Knox Church, Mangapapa, St. David's, Kaiti, and at Whangara yesterday. His successor, the Rev. J. W. Martin, will commence his duties next Sunday. At. Whangara yesterday afternoon an opportunity was taken to make presentations to Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mr. S. D. Reeves expressed regret at their minister's departure, appreciation of his services and hopes for the future welfare of their minister and his wife. On behalf of the large gathering, Mr. Reeves handed Mrs. Boyd a crystal vase and to Mr. Boyd a writing desk set. Mr. Boyd suitably replied, thanking the people for their kindly consideration. On Saturday afternoon members of the Kaiti Ladies' Guild met at the residence of Mrs. J. Shaw, Harris street. Mrs. Boyd was the guest of honour, and she was presented with a Ohiswick ware vase. Mangapapa members of the P.W.M.U. met last week, the vice-president, Mrs. M. Orr, presiding. During the afternoon Mrs. Boyd was presented with a leather handbag in appreciation of her services as president of the union during her stayin Mangapapa. The Rev. J. H. and Mrs. Boyd have made arrangements to leave during the week for their new home in Wooaville, and prior to their departure they will be the guests at a combined valedictory function on Tuesday evening, in which the congregations of both Knox and St. David's churches will co-operate.
