TE AUTE HOTEL RAZED

EARLY-MORNING FIRE ALL CONTENTS LOST / (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Te Aute Hotel, a familiar reminder of the early coaching days, was totally destroyed by lire at 3 o'clock yesterday morning. The greater proportion "of the building was wooden and was very old, and nothing could be done to save it.

By 5 o'clock only the chimneys remained standing. The hotel was occupied by the owner. Air. Charles Hart, and his wife and son and a small staff. There were no boarders. The occupants had to make a hurried escape and saved none of their personal effects. The Waipawa police are investigating the cause of the lire, which is at present unknown. No details of insurances are available.
