Messrs \V. D. Lysnar and F. D. LongIcy. Gisborne, were recent visitors to Wellington. The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., returned yesterday from a visit to Wellington on Borough Council business.
Captain E. Mathe, marine superintendent of the Norddeutscher Lloyd Line, is at present visiting New Zealand.
.Mr T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, has been reappointed a member of the Board of Health for three years as from October 1 last year.
Mr H. Baker, for many years manager of Messrs Hallenstein' Bros, branch at Hawera, has been transferred to a similar position in their Napier business.
Sir Frank Gavan Duffy. Mr Juslie Gavan Duffy and the Rev. Father Gu; Gavan Duffy have left Auckland o; their return to. Melbourne after a visi to New Zealand. ,
Messrs 11. H. PeOosta and F. C. Ellis have arranged to leave, by air service on Monday for Wellington to attend the annual conference of agents of the A.M.P. Society.
An engagement is announced between Raymond Herbert, the- only son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Layton, St. Albans, Christehurch. and Nancy, the eldest daughter of Mrs. Benshaw and the late Mr. R. Renshaw, Tauranga.
Passengers by the East Coast Airways' plane from Napier to Gisborne yesterday included Mesdames Foote, Palgrave, anil Cameron; Messrs B. K. Murphy. D. W. Coleman, M.P.. B. S. Bree, Glambile, Morshead, B, Beed; Masters Murdoch', Foote and Mahon. Those who travelled from Gisborne to Napier included Mesdames A. Gregory, and S. W. MacDowell; Messrs H. M. Tiffen, P. W. Tiffen, A. Cabuthers, L. Miles, M. J. White, A. Atkins. G. Caldwell, M. McDowell; Master McNee; Misses Simpkipa, and, G. Webster.
