William Dowell, a single man, a carpenter, of Whatoro, aged about 57 years, was found at about 2.30 p.m. at his sister's residence, Hokianga. road, by his nephew, Jack Can/ lying fully, dressed upon the bed with a pea-rifle shot, wound at (he back of the head.
