Owing lo heavy losses in Central Otaco orchards the apricot season will be cut off almost at the start, according to authoritative information, states the Southland Times To the consternation of growers the fruit is prematurely falling off the trees all through the district. It is believed that this is the result ot a late frost, the effect of which was not noticeable at the time. Moderate quantities of apricots have been reaching the lnvercargill market, but in nothing like the usual quantities. Peaches and plums have not been allected, and the orchards promise good supplies of both these stone fruits.
