Iwo murder charges only were dealt with by detectives. those being the case, of a Maoii who was acquitted and that, of Eric Mareo now awaiting trial ou a charge ot having murdered his wife. A major inquiry took place concerning the finding in mysterious circumstances of the body ol a young Maori rirl under the Ran mure wharf, hut the mystery remained unsolved, despite no-ninion-wide inquiries. The police believe that a couple ot months ago they captured a daring bouse thief who bad' been operating successfully for several years.
