r.S. LOSES £5,325,000,000 WASHINGTON, Nov. 12. The five- years of depression have cost American business £5,325,0C0.000 in savings-. according to the estimate made under the auspices of the Department ol Commerce, and published to-day. Studying the effects of the economic crisis front this unusual angle, the experts conclude, that- the national income in 1934 wan slightly less than £10,00300O.CC0, compared with .£8,000,000.030 for 1932. the year in which trade was at its worst, and £16,000,000,000 for 1929, the last of the boom years.
Tints in 1934- there was distinct evidence of a moderate degree ol recovery which was' borne out by estimates that from 1932 to 1934 agricultural income increased by 91 per cent, mining income by 78 per "cent, and manufacturing income by 74 per cent.
