Semi-flnnls: QnisL defeated Crawford. 4 6. 6—4, 6—4, 11—9; llopman defeated Tonkin. 4—6, 6—4, 6-4, 10-8. Women's Singles.—Semi-finals : Miss flartigan defeated .Miss Nicholls, 6 3, 5—3; Miss Coyne defeated Mrs llopman, 4_6 J 6—4, 6—4. Mixed Doubles.—Second round : Undo and Mrs Letts defeated Donohoe and Miss Nicholls, 6-3, 2—l, (retired). Men's Doubles: Semi-finals : Crawford 'and MeCrath defeated Ferguson and Chrystal, 6—3, 8-6, 9—7; Quist and
Thompson defeated llopman and Kay, 11—9, 7 5. 7—5, Miss Nicholls started well against Miss Hartigan, tlie Australasian champion, and led 3—l before Miss Hartigan got her famous forehand working smoothly. Miss Hartigan won live games in a row lo win the set. Miss Nicholls was unable to gauge the pace of the Australian's, shots in the second set, outing returns. Miss Nicholls was not playing confidently enough to test Miss Hartigan's backhand. The Australian's forehand drives repeatedly found the sidelines, with Miss Nicholls out of position. Donohoe developed had cramp in the mixed doubles and forfeited. Quist proved steadier than Crawford in the singles championship. Quist took the net and forced Crawford into errors.
