MINISTER BEATEN
RAMSAY MACDONALD OUT WORST FEARS REALISED PROTEST OVER TACTICS THROWING OF BRICKBATS (Elee. Tel. Copyrleht—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 16, noon.) LONDON, Nov. 15. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, on his arrival from Seaham, said: "I warn you I am out. It's been a tremendous fight. 1 feel justified in describing the contest as having produced filthy tactics which have been absolutely reprehensible. The throwing of brickbats at my women supporters' cars last night was a climax to a series of horrible demonstrations." Describing himself as completely done in and an old man, Mr. MacDonald said : "I am too tired to discuss the future. All I want is sleep. My energies are übsolutely spent." It transpires that the sending of an aeroplane to Seaham yesterday to bring Mr.' MacDonald to London was a ruse to enable him to leave the constituency by tiyiin without, fuss. The Seaham result was eagerly awaited, and Mr Ramsay MacDonald's worst fears were realised. His defeat was not surprising, because Mr E. Shinwell, the Labor candidate, nursed the seat studiously for four years. It was to Mr MacDonald's credit that he refused all offers of a safe seat.
