SWIMMING
GISBOENE CLUB'S PLANS The Gisborne Swimming Club will commence its activities for the present season next Saturday afternoon when their first nice of the season will be part of the programme to be conducted in the harbor t,asin, in aid of the City Band funds. The Miller Cup race. which is across the basin, should prove an interesting event, and a large field is anticipated; although the season so far has been against swimming, quite o number are already in training. In addition a shorter race of 75yds has been added to the events, and this race shoald also draw good entries. An event which should prove an at traction is the diving exhibition and the club's leading divers will betaking part. The Harbor Board is arranging for a sprinffljNwrd to he erected on the wharf and ftWi divers of reputation such as H. vM\\, B. Terry, and D. Patterson takinjf part the public can bo assured of seeingisome of the more difficult fancy dives feeing executed. A novelty in a greasy boom competition should cause considerable amuse ment to the public. Entries for the above events will close with Mr. C. E. Brown on Thursday next.
