To-day’s Nortli Island Report Overcast conditions were reported this mol'ning Between Gisborne and Cape Palliscr, but Blue skies prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Mod erate to fresh south-westerly breezewere genertti. The bnrometer lino risen steadily since yesterday. Temperatures at 0 o’clock were: Auckland and Taurauga 56 degrees, Opotiki and Napier r>2, East Cape 55, Gisborne and Wellington 55. Rough seas were reported at Wellington, Cape Pallisei, and Castlcpnint; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast Barometers are still ralher low. But the depression is moving eastwards, and an anticyclone over the r lasm;ui is .advancing towards the Dominion. Winds: Strong southerly to south-westerly, gale force at places' But gradually moderating. Seas: Rough to high on the west coast of the. North Island and south of Castlepoint; elsewhere rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman : Strong southwest winds, with rough seas, but wind and sea soon decreasing. Weather: Cold, changeable and squally generally, with passing showers, hail on parts i I the. East Coast and snow on some of the ranges; mainly fair, however, in Westland, and conditions improving in most districts to-morrow. Sharp inland frosts likely in the. South Island. Midday Forecast General Inference. —The pressure is still low to the ,east, But is rising over the Dominion with the advance of an anticyclone over the Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Moderate to strong southwest winds. Weather cold and changeable, with scattered showers, but improving. Seas rather rough.
