A farm horse of .considerable value was killed, and its owner bad a narrow escape from serious injury w'hen a fence ora the property of Mr J. E. Meuli at Okaiawn, Tarnnnki, became {' alive" recently owing to a defect in the electrical supply to n shod which the ferio.o touches; Mr Meuli was informed that one of Ins horses which it was customary to use' in taking- milk in the factory had died, apparently from heart failure. He felt a slight tingling in his hands, but attributed it at the moment to animal electricity in the hair. , It was not until ho touched the fence and received a severe Shock, wbioh throw him several feet, that he realised what had .caused the animal's death. It was found that the shed eilso was "alive." Although members of Mr Metlli's family had been in it, none of tliein 'had touched the building. Burns were found on the horse, but Mr Mouki ■ wW not hurt by Ms contact with the fence. He felt for some time the effects of his unpleasant experience, however.
