INDEPENDENT’S VIEWS OPENING OP CAMPAIGN (Per Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, last night. Mr. John Ormond, jun., Independent National candidate for Waipawa, addressed the opening meeting of his campaign at his home centre, Wallingford. He strongly favored 1 preferential voting, also a ’more representative Legislative Council, but not an elective one. With qualifications, he defended the Government measures to assist farmers. He considered it urgently necessary that larger areas should be split up into one man holdings in the interests of men with experience, also the introduction of the capital development of poorer land.
