NEEDS OF DEFENCE ANNUAL OBSERVANCE WASHINGTON, Oct. 26. President Roosevelt lias launched a Navy Day observance, asserting, that in the unsettled conditions existing throughout the world it is imperative thjtglfwe should have the needs of nUffmal defence.”
On the occasion of the annual observance of Navy Day, which is tomorrow, President Roosevelt has sent the Secretary of the Navy, Mr C. A. Swanson, a message praising the efficiency of the American sea defence and stressing the necessity for strengthening the nary “to a degree commensurate with America’s ncods, interests and responsibilities.”
